Two of us flew out to denmark 2 days ago to come and see a beautiful RV8. After a delayed easyJet flight meant we missed the fast train, and then the slow train then being further delayed we eventually got to Odense station in pouring rain at 1am. Half an hour later our slightly grotty hotel offered a bed.
Next day, we saw the aircraft and the owner gave me a demo flight which included lots of 90 degree banking turns and rolls, a low pass flyby of a friends strip, a touch and go and landing. Wow, this is fast, definitely faster than the RV10. We didn’t fly straight and level for more than a few seconds, so I don’t quite know what it’s going to settle at, but 175kts was seen on the instruments at a level attitude quite a few times. I suspect cruise 160+.
Delighted with the immaculate 5 year old aircraft I called the bank and started the money transfer. I was told the usual “max 2 working days” but also told there was a solid chance if same day transfer (it was 09:15 UK time).
Then... we waited. Had coffee... waited.... had lunch... waited.... had coffee... waited... had dinner. Gave up.... paid for another hotel.
It’s now Friday morning, I’m waiting for the UK bank to open. Money is still visible in my current account, so it’s not even left my side yet. Every time I call HSBC they read me the same sheet of paper and could not be less helpful. Right now I don’t even know if the money will go today. Grrrr.
Weather today worse than yesterday, but flyable at the moment. Come on HSBC!!
