Another canal breach has occurred, this time on the Macclesfield Canal above Bosley Locks.
No work has been done towards repairing the massive breach on the Bridgewater Canal at Dunham Massey that failed in the early hours of New Year's day. The Anderton Boat Lift has been closed for a while now with no date announced for re-opening, and Tardebigge Locks are closed due to a collapsing lock chamber. And all this before the boat holiday season gets underway.
Is the UK canal infrastructure failing through age and lack of effective maintenance?
If I owned a canal boat, or a boat hire company, I'd be a tad concerned...
