To discuss anything which relates to the FLYER Airportal or the magazine

Hi folks...

I'd like to make an appeal to everyone on the forums to exercise a bit more thought about the method we use when posting material that may not be appropriate in some viewing environments.

Please try to remember that some people will be browsing the forums during spare moments at work, and some companies have extremely strict and uncompromising policies about what they consider to be inappropriate material.

I don't know how tough my employer is, and I don't want to find out. The technology exists to perform extremely sophisticated monitoring of images downloaded over a corporate network, and it's quite possible to imagine that someone might find themselves in hot water through no fault of their own.

Don't get me wrong: I'm no prude. I love the forum's slightly anarchic feel, and I'm not asking that we stop posting risque pictures. But there's a way of doing it such that the image doesn't suddenly appear on one's screen in the middle of the office.

Please, if you're going to post an image that you think may not be suitable for viewing in an office environment, don't post it using the "img" tag. Instead, post it using an ordinary link, like this:

That way, people get an opportunity to decide whether or not to view the image (especially if you put a small warning next to it). If you use the "img" tag then it's too late - by the time someone's clicked on a link to a thread (unaware of what images may be lurking in the thread), the image is already there and has possibly been logged by their company's IT department.

Obviously this has been prompted by a current thread, but I hope this post isn't taken personally. There has been at least one other occasion in the last few weeks when I've found myself confronted with an image that I'd rather not have seen at work.

I appreciate that the mods have the authority on this, and this is only an expression of my personal opinion. I really don't want to see any additional censorship - all I'm asking is that we use a more discreet method for posting pictures that are potentially embarrassing in a work environment.
