Erding is a military airbase, hence the "ETxx" ICAO identifier. It is inside the Munich Class D, and is approached from the South using a procedure that can be found in the German military AIP.
Munich information are very helpful when flying in, and there is a handy railway line from the 'MUN' VOR that takes you to point Sierra, where entry into the Class D begins.
At Erding you will be 6.8 nm from Munich Franz-Josef Strauss International, which is half as far again as Redhill is from Gatwick, but feels just as close!
Not surprisingly it is PPR, and access demands a host at the airfield who will require aircraft and crew/pax details (including passport numbers etc) a few days prior to arrival.
There is a thriving flying club on the field, with Super Cub, Cessnas, Super Dimona motorgliders etc.
