When doing the LAPL -> PPL upgrade there’s a requirement for a supervised solo XC. That’s easy enough, have many similar trips logged already but is there an actual definition of what the supervision has to entail, for instance does it have to start and end at the ATO base which would add two stops and two landing fees to the trip for me, my aircraft is based nearby. If not does the instructor need to physically wave you off or can it be done virtually? At 500 hours and using an aircraft that I have 350 hours in its simply a box ticking exercise anyway. Does the instructor have discretion or are there strictly laid down rules?
