For help, advice and discussion about stuff not related to aviation. Play nice: no religion, no politics and no axe grinding please.
Right, so - my house here in Belgium is from the early 1950s.

Concrete was still a bit scarce after the war, so the ground floor at my place has half concrete floors & half wooden floors, latter supported by rafters (for lack of a better word).

The wooden floor bits have original 1950s 1 inch thick plaster board on the basement side ceilings - which partly due to me wanting better soundproofing in my basement office & also cos of mouse + rat infestation the past few months - I’m ripping down the plasterboard.

Mrs OCB sh at several bricks when the dust from me taking down about 1.5m squared of old plasterboard from my workshop appeared on the ground floor.

The “big job” is my basement office. That’s 4x4m of 75 yr old 1 inch thick plasterboard & all the sh it it’s accumulated on the dark side, not to mention the recent arrival of scurrying little rodents quite literally scampering above my head during Teams calls.

Anyway - missus spent weeks & months trying to dissuade me from ripping down the plasterboard ceiling “cos it would create too much dust”

Enter “OCB the obstinate engineer”.

I used to work in electronics clean rooms & also food + plastics clean rooms.

“Challenge accepted”, as they say

TL;DR - I’ve built an under-pressure room with HEPA filter that can treat about 10x per hour air changes. Doors are sealed off with zip-seal construction thingys.

Using a handheld reciprocal saw with a Karcher vacuum cleaner chasing behind it- taking down the old plasterboard.

The HEPA filter unit is 57cm high.

For the life of me, I can’t think of anything else I can do.

I *honestly* can’t think of anything else I can do..so question to the audience.

Anything else I can add?

I sometimes get accused of over-engineering solutions.

I find that quite insulting.

I *always* over-engineer solutions, they just didn’t notice the other bits

(Photos to follow)

…I also bought a small HEPA filter unit that has an ionizer that’s meant to cover the other side of the room - but forgot got no power there…
