To discuss anything which relates to the FLYER Airportal or the magazine
By MattD
I get the vibe that there is a large-ish student community out there plus the same number, if not more, of the curious.

Dunno what other shops are like, but Liverpool St. WH Smiths at lunchtime is full of ABC1's buried in the "expensive hobby" magazines.

Plus my attempt at drumming up some student/instructor participation on the studes thread about Whizz Wheels whilst only attracting a few replies has attracted a few more viewers.

I get the feeling there's a lot of people out there who want to get in to flying or at least have a go and and are not quite sure how to get started. Or once started, how to access resources after their lesson once they have gone home with a head full of experiences which turn in to thoughts which turn in to questions which have no where of being answered.

How about the magazine having a student section? The website does it so why not the mag? Maybe find a couple of volunteers to sponsor and track their progress through PPL, CPL, ratings etc. I'm sure most people would put pen to paper in exchange for paying for a couple of lessons they were going to have to pay for anyway.Couple it with a monthly groundschool feature where Irv or someone talks about how to plan a nav route or look at fuel burn or something etc. and I think it would be a great little regular monthly "student pilot" feature which would have a wide appeal.

More wine, Mavis, I'm waffling now!
