The Kent Strut of the LAA invites you to Manston, for this one-off charity fly-in, thanks to RiverOak, who are set to reopen Manston. With so much space available, it is not limited to LAA members.
The day is to raise funds for our local charity, Martha Trust, which supports severely mentally and physically handicapped people in a proper home. Having visited, I can say their work is invaluable. Official support provides no more than the physical essentials; Martha Trust does everything else and the everything is impressive.
For practical reasons, PPR is via Polar Helicopters, who are based there, by telephone to 01843 823067.
You will need to provide an e-mail address so they can send the briefing to you.
The £10 landing fee goes to Martha Trust and they/ we will be endeavouring to get more money out of you during your visit, with a raffle etc.
Manston is home to two museums, each of which has a café; the Strut has a relationship with the RAF History Museum and it is likely that their volunteers will be staffing both their café and their NAAFI van.
We have no back-up day, so those with influence are requested to make the appropriate sacrifices and libations to the weather gods.
Please note the airfield remains closed to fixed wing a/c and this has to be a once only event while RiverOak’s work continues to re-establish a freight hub.
