.. to commemorate 82nd anniversary of first flight of the Gloster E28/39 from nearby Brockworth, April 1941. Covid frustrated the plans for an 80th anniversary event! Jet Provost also expected.

Fly-ins welcome, to share the museum apron :)

"Jet Age Museum, Gloucestershire, has had a phenomenal response to the forthcoming Vampire Visit on Saturday 22 April 2023.

There will still be no fixed entry fee but any donations towards the all volunteer Museum would be gratefully accepted.

In the meantime, let's take a closer look at just two of the aircraft that we hope will attend, subject to availability on the day and suitability clement weather.
The Vampire Preservation Group 's Vampire T11 WZ507 was built at Christchurch, Dorset, in 1952 and delivered to the RAF in 1953, serving with 229 OCU, 8 and 5 Flying Training Schools and then 3 Civilian Anti Aircraft Cooperation Unit at Exeter Airport. Withdrawn from Shawbury in 1969, WZ507 joined the civilian register as G-VTII, becoming the first ex military jet fighter to achieve that status. WZ507 remains the only original ex RAF Vampire still flying in the UK.

Meanwhile, 1967 vintage Hunting Jet Provost T32 G-PROV is the only heritage jet flying in the UK with combat damage, this having been sustained in service with the South Arabian Air Force. After carrying the number 104 in Yemen, this Viper engined two seater was transferred to the air force of Singapore before retirement in 1980 and return to the UK in 1983."
