A place for regular members to sell their aviation stuff (non-commercial only pls, and no aircraft for sale)
Forum rules: Non-Aviation or commercial items are not accepted. The option to put items for sale here is in the first place for FLYER Club Members, if you are not (yet) a member your ad will not be accepted.

Buyers and sellers should be aware that Flyer Forums or its parent company are not responsible for the articles put up for sale here nor can be held liable for any part of the transaction process - the usual internet buying and selling caveats apply and should be borne in mind when dealing with buyer/sellers through an internet site.

SOLDAs mentioned elsewhere I am clearingout all my flying stuff over the next few days.
I have dug out my trusty GPSmap 296 to find the battery is as flat as a pancake:

It works perfectly in all modes and has found itself via the almanac with correct time, satellites etc, when plugged into a power source but just will not charge.

Is there any way to charge a dead battery or is it a bin job?

I'm clearly not going to buy a new battery as I don't know if anyone will buy it but is there any market for it with a dead battery? I would let if go for not much money - how much is it worth- ?

I can fit a new battery if there is any interest, but will charge a bit for the faff.

(It works perfectly from an ext power source but clearly no battery backup if ext power fails.)

Advice/interest welcomed
TIA
