Chris McGine, contributing on Five's fly-on-the-wall documentary, has clearly got his terminology wrong. Chris refers to an aeroplane as a "crate". Well, I think it's time for a correction.
A "crate" is what you turn up to the airfield in. A "kite", however, is what you fly in. If you watch RAF costume dramas on TV, you would have observed a crate to be a small, British sports car, such as a Morgan whereas a kite is a Spitfire.
Was that the scramble bell I heard? Toodle Pip old fruit, must dash!
