Possibly a bit out of reach for most UK pilots, this charming airfield is in western Poland. The initial idea with our visit was as a fuel stop on route to Hungary, but due to weather we stayed the night and then diverted to the northeast. We did not refuel, but they have 100LL and Jet fuel, payable with credit card.

There is a lot of local flying going on, not the least gliders. We also counted six AN-2s, one of which was used for water bombing forest fires. The grass strip is 800 meters long and 100(!) meters wide. English is not widely spoken in this area, but some German may help you out.

AIP states that to use English on the radio requires "prior consultation". They can be reached at azl@azl.pl. We did consult, but the radio was silent when we arrived... At the airfield itself you can get accommodation in small rooms, youth hostel style. When sharing one room for three people, the bill came to just under 50 pounds total, including breakfast. There is also a nearby town, Zielena Gora, where one can stay. The hotel at the airfield can call a taxi for you.

Web site is in Polish and German and includes approach charts, AIP excerpts, etc. Go to azl.pl, click the German flag and then look for "Für Piloten".

Don't have my receipt for the landing fee, but very cheap. Dinner in town, including starters and drinks, came to less than 15 pounds pp.

Polish air traffic service as given by Gdansk Information and Poznan Information is very good indeed: without prompting, they tell you which restricted areas along your route are active and also inform you about where there might be TCU, CB or TS.
