Hello All,

A month on the RSF25…we’ve been bombarded with photos, social media posts and general interest around the event, an event that we consider to be a ‘stepping stone’ towards the evolution of STOL and ‘back country’ flying in the UK. As with many things, and event is made by those who support it, so to all of you, massive thank you from us.

We had around 75 aircraft visit the event in total, 49 of which stayed for the weekend. It is fair to say that we were somewhat scuppered by the weather, at times a hearty +15kts straight across the runway, it think we all felt that it would never let up, and in true UK flying weather style is stayed windy for the next few weeks.

The decision whether to fly or not is a very personal one. It is based around personal limits, the type of aircraft, the experience of the individual in that aircraft, and knowledge of the destination, the alternate(s) and the route to be flown, not to mention the viability of the flight back home! It is normal to thank those who came to the event, and of course we do, you made it a wonderful gathering of ‘like-minded’ individuals. However, we’d also like to thank those of you who made the correct decision to not fly in, to either drive in, or to pass altogether. It is in these decisions that we show who we are, and what we are as aviators.

The Real Stol Fest was, and will ALWAYS be about safety. It’s about doing what we love in a safe manner, while setting high standard to others, and being role models to those who wish to do what we are so privileged to do.

Whether you were able to fly in or not, we’d like to thank you all for your decision making, airmanship, professionalism and support.

We’d like to welcome you all back again this year on the 26th July 2025 for RSF STOL SOCIAL with guest speaker @arthurvwilliams. Please email me if you’re planning on attending. This event is open to all aviators, so if you had friends that wanted to come to the RSF they’re welcome to fly in and camp over. This is completely free so please show your support as we move forward.

The RSF Team.

Thanks
