The CAA Drone guide seems to give sub 250grm drone operators pretty much a free hand on where they fly in unrestricted airspace.
Is there a distance where you would consider "line of sight" not possible? I know the code says "not using binoculars," etc, but is there a rule of thumb on distance?

although exempt from the 50m and 150m rules for people and residential, recreational, commercial and industrial sites, is there any formal guidance on how close is too close?
