Help needed please. My current battery (pun intended) is, according to the recent service on its last legs and due for a change.

This battery supports a 'stop/start' engine facility on my Volvo which is the spawn of the devil and should be cast into the outermost.

The cost of a stop/start is a touch over £200. The cost of not a stop/start is anything from £50 - £75 so, a considerable difference.

We do not use the stop/start facility - never have. The question is; can we use a standard lead acid battery as a replacement or, is the high st. likely to explode w hen parked outside M & S ? Or, some such.

Advice appreciated.
