For many years, MrsGB and I have had an annual worldwide multi-trip travel insurance policy through Traffords, which includes cover for touring/training type GA activities.
Last year it doubled to over £400 as we had both reached seventy. It still represented good value as we generally spend a total of a couple of months abroad on one sort of trip or another over the year, but the majority of that would not be flying related.
It's now renewal time, and apparently the previous company (Arch?) have now withdrawn from that market and the new insurers have added £2000 to the premium. That's right, the premium is now over five-fold what it was before!
I'll be having a conversation with Traffords in the next day or two, but I'd be grateful to receive suggestions from anyone who may be able to offer an alternative.
(As it happens, we're at the France house now, and fortunately we'll be arriving back in the UK on the day it expires! Our next trip overseas is not due until mid-September, so we have a bit of time).
